If the maintenance of the relationship is solely for co-parenting AND both parents are unhappy, absolutely not. If the parents are willing to change to nature of their relationship to get all their relationship needs met, but actually like co-parenting in the same house (by like I mean they actually like co-parenting together AND they find it an important part of their lifestyle) AND are pretty open to change? yeah probably. is the latter going to happen? not likely. there are probably going to be external factors that change things too much.
