Literally every fandom I'm in has had some sort of cancellation in some capacity (either the company that runs it sucks, a person behind its creation sucks, the organization sucks, etc) since the start of the pandemic. It has embarrassingly run my mental health so ragged on top of everything else. I've been trying to curb my social media to deal with less hot takes... but idk. Escapism has always been my coping mechanism. Sorry you're feeling it too, OP.

I avoid tags now so i don't have to trawl through this sort of low effort fan content anymore.

My current issue is people who write lazy 'imagines' that are just a prompt in disguise and people who upload single sentences on AO3.

The thing that grinds my gears is when foreigners do not post an explanation or rules in Japanese. How lazy can you be to use Google translator or copypaste from other author? I find that kind of rude.

It feels like you're being more specific than the trope calls for? It's just a group of people who give each other's relationships primacy, but for whom familial relation cannot be the main cause of such intimacy (meaning that there can be relatives in there, but the whole group isn't related). Romance can be a big part of it, it's just that there are ensemble aspects to the narrative. Some signs: nobody has any other "family"; other "family" is brought into the narrative and one of the ensemble rejects old "relatives" for new "relatives" at the end (OR old relative becomes a part of new relatives); two characters "hate" each other but one will defend the other if the other is threatened; characters who try to move beyond the "family" do not manage to do so (for good or ill) until the end of the narrative, or if they do the group treats it like a death or betrayal.

An edge case, for instance, is Sister, Sister, in that while the twins are blood related, Lisa and Raymond have no connection, and honestly a type of emnity...but still help each other out when necessary. Getting Lisa and Raymond to consider themselves family is part of the narrative. It's an edge case, but you can see from it how broad this category can be. If you look at it explicitly in opposition to family narratives where the main connection is birth or explicit adoption (and the psychological ties are entirely based on that or individuals are pressured to remain part of the family through that), it might become clearer what "found family" is for.
