you know, I actually never was sold on the elven costumes but now the LOTR movies are like, The Template for designing and costuming elves so ugh. But totally sold on the hobbits, such excellent design.

for all the hate the SW prequels get, the costume design was amazing and I will stan it to my grave. I've made several and ferreting out the little details, down to the shoulder tuck on Ewan's Jedi robes to help him look slightly larger, is always a delight. Yeah, a lot of Padme's gowns were straight up taken from Mongolian and Tibetan noble wear but if it brings attention to those cultures, so much the better. I had the pleasure of hearing Iain McCaig speak at a convention once, about his costume designs and the process of getting them approved, it was such an eye-opener.

I love the prequel costuming in general too. So beautiful, and it really worked to make it seem like a world that was a whole galaxy of different species, cultures, and people.

There was a bit where it felt like the LotR elven costumes were influencing the Vulcan costumes on Enterprise. Now they seem to have swung from "Vulcans are space elves in a dignified Elrond kind of way" to "Romulans are space elves in a badass Legolas kind of way."
