I just wish dominate/assertive women were more often paired with submissive/passive men in general when it comes to fiction. It doesn't make sense why it's still fairly rare here in 2021.

This. Most of the time they are paired with more dominant men who show them that they really are submissive or at least have a submissive side that they need explored with the right man. Very rarely do we get submissive or passive men.

IDK, I think in all likelihood the strong majority of women just have a preference for either no dom/sub dynamics or for being sexually subby (not necessarily in a formal capacity but in some capacity), so when they write het with D/s dynamics they write fem!sub/male!dom. There is certainly a conversation to be had about how socialization plays into our sexual preferences, but at the end of the day, I don't think it's a lack of progressiveness causing fem!sub to be overwhelmingly more popular than fem!dom in het fiction.

People just write what they vibe with.

I think it's pretty much this. I'd also like to add that maybe there's an additional component readers of those fics not wanting to see men in a sub role (speaking specifically for het fic, and not strictly in a sexual dynamic either, but what a submissiveness in personality may also imply, if the M character isn't already like that).

But in general, people write what they vibe with/want to see, +1.

I love seeing two assertive/dominant characters in het fic. I don't mind the "usual" dynamics as long as the woman isn't simpering and doe eyed (ugh). But again, that's something that alot of people may be looking for, to be taken care of (instead of taking care of someone else in a particular manner).

I'm a woman and quite subby but my favs are male and I want to read about someone adoring them and their submissive. Yes I'm projecting. No I don't care.

Porn from the more dominant perspective is less common, and from a dominant woman? I don't think I've read any. And fics that focus on a dominant woman from the submissive's view are rarely to my taste.
