There's been discussion in the gaming community that spiders are generic enemies and some people have even called for their removal altogether because of that and apparently they're very triggering to some audiences. While I don't disagree that they are pretty common to the point of being trope-y, I'm still happy that they're around. I love spiders and until I am given games where I can befriend them, I'll just have to settle for being pitted against them. It's now a running joke to question 'if you can pet the dog' in a game but here I am, wanting to pet the super cute ten-foot-tall tarantula.
