Taxes

Have you done yours? Gotten your return already? Still procrastinating as that date looms closer and closer?

I just found out I can't file mine for free online because I receive alimony. I'm not happy with this information.

Just did it like an hour ago.

Fortunately I can do it free online, I just want a feature where I can go in and switch the amount numbers as nothing else has changed. Stop asking me to confirm shit and go through all these screens. Aieee.

What did you make last year? You should still be able to file free online thru TurboTax is you make under a certain amount. Just make sure you are using the IRS link. Otherwise TurboTax will try to trick you into paying for it.

I usually wait until the last couple of weeks.

I am predictable and knocked it out Monday.

Mine were done and filed the day filing opened lol. But I am single with no dependants so they're easy as fuck to do.

I probably should do it soon, but I keep procrastinating because it's burned into my mind that it's a hassle, even though... it really isn't.

On a whim a few years ago I tried CreditKarma's tax filing service and they gave me a refund rather than needing to pay, which I didn't get when I had done it on paper... turned out that they correctly determined I didn't have to pay a fine for not having medical insurance because I was too poor to afford it in my state on my income, and there was also something about having a IRA through my employer. After double-checking that this was accurate, I decided I'd use them from now on, since otherwise I would've had to pay $50 in federal taxes and instead I was getting a $200 refund. Maybe they'll catch something else fun.

I did mine and had to pay a good chunk of change. Was not pleased about that. At least I could still file for free.

The federal tax due date has been extended to May 17 this year.

And almost all states have also extended their due dates to that this year. Some are actually later (Maryland, Iowa, Oklahoma) and some states don't require state taxes, but Hawaii's is still in April, though 4/20 and not 4/15.

I did do mine earlier this week, both have been accepted. I have neither been debited by the amount I owe (federal), nor had deposited the amount I'm due (state).

I do mine the instant I'm able to, lol. Don't want that weight on my mind any longer than I absolutely must
