Weekend Plans?

What is everyone doing this weekend?

I am visiting my sister. Tomorrow we are going to plant some flowers and try to rip some bushes up. Sunday, we are watching Wrestlemania because she is really trying to get me into it. We will be baking something in between all that.

Doing my taxes, writing a speech I'm giving on Tuesday, and writing a legal brief. Spending time with kitty. My parents are gone to Dallas for the weekend, so I have the house to myself even though I have a lot to do, which is nice.

Hopefully finishing both canning my maple syrup haul for this year (19 half-pint jars full as of a few minutes ago, probably about 2-3 pints left but my body has informed me it is done standing up for today), and editing the current WIP. Maybe not posting because someone else actually posted something in my dead fandom and I am pleased about this and want them to have top billing for awhile. :D

Animal Crossing has a Fishing Tourney Saturday, I think Pokemon Go has Snivy Community Day Sunday... if I have time, possibly I should get some more weeding done in my garden, since my strawberries are coming up. Doesn't really hurt anything to have grass growing around them, but it does make it harder to find the berries later.

I think I'm going to watch and see if the Star Stable community implodes or something. They found some Glassdoor reviews by employees and the community is... kind of having a breakdown.

It could go three ways. 1) Nothing happens. Other than lots of talk. 2) Massive organization. 3) Organization behind another game.

Well, possibly some online gaming with other folks, or possibly not. I just hope I can work up the nerve to get some progress done on fic, I hate the feeling of getting burned out.

I have taken the week off studying, writing and drawing and don't plan to start again until... sunday. Then it's back to korean, art and writing. Tomorrow I may work in a garden. Or I may not. I'll see if it snows.

Do whatever I procrastinated on during the week (thanks depression), classes tomorrow afternoon, when it's all over, try to organize my tasks list and my computer / mobile files, and before I know it the weeked will be over and I won't have worked on my original story nor on my webbie Sigh

Roleplaying Etiquette

I am so excited that I finally have someone to roleplay my OTP and fic ideas out with and I don't wanna mess this up or scare them off, so what is a good code of conduct or tips for being a good roleplaying partner?

I would say discuss everything up front before anything happens. Talk about what is and is not acceptable for both of you, and then respect those boundaries. If you're ever unsure about something, speak up and let them know, and tell them they are free to do the same. Good communication is key.

Talk to your partner OOC. Ask them what sort of code of conduct their comfortable with!

Especially since it's an OTP you might want to get a feel for how they see the characters and dynamic too; make sure you're on the same page.

Don't stalk other scenarios they might be RPing with other people, their RP journals, or their comment counts. Don't doxx them. If you get their phone number, don't give it out to other people. I hope this is all common sense to you! But all of these have been done to me in the past. Think of the bare minimum that you wouldn't want done to you, and don't do it to them.

Unless you have some sort of agreement about it, do not ever god mode. If you didn't make a character, what they do is not your decision, and even if it's something that seems minor to you, it's possible you are making that character do something OOC for reasons you don't know yet. I used to know someone who would put if statements in their rps, like "and if (other person's character) does (action) my character will (other action)". It was a bit clunky but it worked well enough.

Establish how much time you generally want to spend RPing, or how long you want to take for replies if you are rping in a form that's like, you alternate writing large paragraphs, and if you can't make a session tell them, and be willing to accept apologies from them. Depending on why you or they can't do the thing, you can maybe suggest a more low energy activity to do in the time. (It can even be silly, non canon rp in a universe where the characters can do whatever they want, such making a planet of ultra friendly chinchillas and burying theif face in them (actual example from a non canon RP I did).)

If you do write long paragraphs in the RP, try and keep them to the same "scene." I used to roleplay with someone who would do really long, multi paragraph replies, and each paragraph would often just... spiral into their own scenes. So like in one RP the first paragraph of each reply would be one conversation between the two characters and then the second paragraph would be an entirely DIFFERENT conversation and the third paragraph would be a game the two are playing and it was kinda confusing when these things are actually taking place relative to each other. So, try not to let yourself do this.

Can we stop calling things that are not pedophilia, pedophilia? (Brought up because of this whole thing with James Charles.

Yes, 22 year olds should not be fucking 16 year olds. Yes, it's wrong. Especially with the power imbalance that they're his fans. But it's not fucking pedophilia! Jesus christ. Throwing that term at everything with an age gap or anything socially (and in this case imo morally) wrong is watering down the impact of a term used for actually genuinely sexually abused children.

Inspired by a couple of comments in various threads above.

Mine is that I really quirky signage in grocery stores that serve as labeling for aisles and whatnot; it genuinely makes my experience better when the stores choose to have fun with that kind of thing. Like for 'Dairy' or 'Meats'. Trader Joe's is pretty infamous for that kind of thing.
