That ep was the only one my sister didn't laugh or sneer at for the stupid monster of the week.

I loved that movie so much and wish I could find a good way to get a copy of it.

Most things you can search and find all sorts of things but that one just slips through the cracks which sucks. Its so wonderfully creative and slightly creepy and intelligent.

107 JKR sucks for that move. I loved Lupin, too, and I thought that was a lameass little plot point she put in there.

nojojojo's post We Worry About It Too (http://nojojojo.livejournal.com/161692.html). Basically: You should write them, but think about it first, just like you hopefully would with any other character that is not you. And then if someone calls you on a thing, listen to them, think about what they said, and don't get crazy defensive about it. The whole, "I'm a precious flower who will just write all-white universes rather than open myself up to criticism" is really, really tired—especially given the reaction of many slash-writing fangirls to what gay men have to say about their stories.

My first suggestion would be to write the story, then run it past some friends who are of the ethnic background of the character you're writing.

I'm going to assume you can't do that-- for whatever reason you don't have friends of that ethnic background, or can't or don't want to ask them for a proofread. In that case, run it past a varied group of friends; preferably ones who are honest and you know will pick up on places where you've got blindspots.

You'll still fuck up. But as someone said during the whole Elizabeth Bear kerfluffle, all you can do "Try. Fail. Try again. Fail better."

I don't think anyone would think you awful for disliking the scene. I don't hold it against you. As long as you're respectful about it. I think people unfortunately are going to take issue with your secret not because of your feelings on the scene but because of the nasty, sniping comments it will inspire from opposing shippers.

Hollywood is a business, as people keep saying in this particular conversation. Right now Paramount is doing something that A LOT of people find offensive and insulting. The only power we have in this situation is the power to not support this movie financially -- they have no reason to stop if it keeps making them money, as sad as that is.

Besides, I doubt you'd say that if it went against a "moral agenda" you personally care more about.
