This is an uncharacteristically obnoxious butting-in, but after seeing the picture the OP used I got very curious and marathoned the John Paul/Craig story in one night. Until 5:30 am. T_T And today I'm going over them again, I absolutely love this couple now and all the asshatery and conflicts and love~~~ but I noticed as I watched I did not see one clip that has the image the OP used for the secret. I was wondering if any of you could possibly tell me which episode it comes from, or if it's a promo image and I've been recombing all the videos today for nothing. </333

Haha, don't worry about the 5:30 thing; when I first found them it was the night before my stats exam. I turned up quite tired, extremely unprepared and reading every question in a Chester accent. But it was totally worth it. That amount of asshatery (perfect word, btw XD) and angsting and love is just that addictive. XP

Um, now that you mention it, I can't place the frame either. I've seen it before, I know that, but I can't think where in the show.

... I've just had a quick poke around, and those outfits are the same ones they were wearing when they first slept together, aren't they? Perhaps it was a promotional picture taken then? Sorry for being a complete lack of help - you've got me wondering too, now!

Hee, marathoning = love! *g* They're so full of angst and hurt but underneath it all they're really just so in love with each other they can't see straight ♥. (pun unintended XD) Also, Guy and James have amazing chemistry, hats off to them!

It's a promo image from the official site (here (http://www.channel4.com/entertainment/tv/microsites/H/hollyoaks/cast/boys/craigdean/)), but as far as I recall it's like sjazzmreow says, from the "McDean day" episode when they first sleep together (one of my favourite scenes of all eternity). At least I've always thought of it as from that episode - also because of how they're standing and their facial expressions ...

When I first watched it, it just hit me, that scene. It's so damn effective. And awesome. And hot. And brilliant. And unexpected from the beginning, yet not OOC at all.

A lot of the fics talk about it, but there's nothing really focusing on that... although TBH, I'm not too sure what you could say about it. If you're a fic writer, I'd love to know what you'd do with it?

Sorry to not get back to you sooner - I've barely been home all weekend. But I'm here now, and, honestly, your fics are lovely.

I love the way you focus on the interactions between them, moving between playful moments and the quieter, more intimate ones, and the internal responses are just as satisying. The characterisations are solid, and the little details, like lying head-to-toe in bed in "All Our Money on Flights", and kisses that cause them to "both keep their eyes closed in order to taste a little better", just add such a wonderful touch. It's like what you say below - we never really saw much of them being a couple on the show, but you've done a really nice job of taking what we do see and giving us a feel of what their dynamic as a couple might be like.

So yes, for your first fics, I'd say you're off to a pretty good start. ♥

FH is... weird. I mean, it's great that there is a place for the community, but as a fic archive, it's so not what I'm used to (although it is still easier to navigate than jplovescraig, at least). No summaries, no labelling, no con-crit or betaing, and by far the most first person fics I've ever seen in one place (which is not to say there's anything wrong with writing in the first person, just that I've never seen so much of it before). The lack of betaing and con-crit is what really bothers me - there are so many great ideas there that are let down by sloppy editing, and a lot of the writers (or, those few that I've had a look at since signing up) suffer from the same sort of mistakes. It makes me want to offer to beta a lot, but I get the feeling that might come off as rude in that environment. As you say, :/

No need to apoligise! Any recs are more than welcome, and even if you hadn't found anything I'm still endlessly grateful for the first round. Thanks for taking the time to find these. :) I rarely write fic myself, but, to be honest, I'm sorely tempted at the moment. Craig fascinates me, and there is so much I could do with that year... I guess I'm kind of fascinated by the way they are - friendly one minute, 'more than friendly' the next ;P I love that playful edge they still have, and when I watched the SE, I got the impression that even though they loved eachother, they were still best friends. It's not what I'm used to either, and I'm not really that keen on it. jplovescraig is difficult to navigate? Can't say I find it that difficult, it's all tagged and pretty straightforward. I guess though if you're looking for particular kinds of fic it might be though :/ In previous fandoms, it's been on specific LJ comms, and fantastically organised with tags, sometimes for author, rating and pairing. And if it's not, it's been put on websites similar to ff.net (but fandom specific, and all beta'ed). I realise I've probably been a bit spoiled with those arrangements *sigh* it makes me want to start my own fic comm over here on LJ for them.


The lack of betaing and con-crit is what really bothers me.
