I prefer the theatre for films too anon. But I kinda feel like that's being ruined by the people who are used to watching films at home browsing on their phone at the same time? Before the pandemic I can't remember the last time I didn't get so fed up (of seeing a lit-up square constantly entering my line of vision) that I had to tell someone to please put their phone away.

(I know this sort of discussion always attracts people who don't see the issue but personally, I don't know why you would PAY to go to the cinema and spend at least 50% of the time on Instagram or Twitter.)

+1, if I want to be on my phone I'll watch at home. Also it's rude to be having little lights all over a dark room.

THIS, if you don't care for the movie you paid for leave or (quietly) take a nap, but don't bother other people with your phone, it's basic courtesy. Motherfucker.

That's super weird; I never really notice anyone on their phones when they're at the theatre.

Now I'm worried about that for a post-pandemic theatre experience. I love going to the theatre but yeah, I'd be distracted and annoyed if someone was on their phone the whole time.
