I haaaattttee the treasure hunt trope where a) the treasure/money really exists, i.e. the narrative proves it does, b) the people hunting actually really need the treasure/money for some good reason, and c) they don't find the treasure, d) there's no alternative solution to the need for the treasure hunters presented, and e) we're supposed to believe the journey was the treasure all along. It really reads like "other things are more valuable than money" and you know what, fuck that. Sometimes you need money before you need friends.
