Jealousy is one of my least favorite tropes. But what I really hate is how it is so often played so differently when it is a male character vs. a female character. Sometimes in the same show. When you you have M1xF1 in a relationship, and M2 starts flirting with F1, M1 will be possessive and act like he owns F1, and there will be dick measuring contests. Meanwhile, if F2 flirts with M1, F1 will be jealous, but not to the same extent. I hate it so much. Not romantic, not healthy.

I like Superman Returns. I think it is a genuinely good movie. And I think it is far superior to every single movie in the new DC canon, even the semi-decent first Wonder Woman and Aquaman movies.

I wish I had a Tangled :The Series discord to chill in that didn't infantalize Varian. I was in a bunch that were really annoying about that.

The fandom is FE3H.

While I don't think people prefer Dimitri over Claude because of racism - even though I guess it does play a part - and I kind of understand why someone, especially a young adult who's been raised on traditional romances or chick flicks, would go for Dimitri, I don't get how you could call his romance healthy or even heartwarming.

Granted, post time-skip!Dimitri's hot but he's a mess and you would have to hold his hand forever. How is that appealing? On the other hand, Claude doesn't really need you anymore post time-skip, which makes him the best male het option in the game imo.

I also romanced Felix and Hubert because I found them hot and liked their personalities. Clearly my tastes suck just as much as Dimitri fans so I'm not judging. Like at all.

I think most people who like unhealthy relationships are aware they're unhealthy and that's why they like them. Especially if the player character is your self insert, it's all about how interesting the romantic partner is as a character, and the idea that you could "heal" them is appealing. Playing out a well adjusted functional relationship with a nice person in a work of fiction can be hella dull.

I always kind of liked Godzooky.

I’m a staunch pro-shipper, but the pro-ship argument of “How can antis be against X/Y/Z but be fine with horror movies and crime procedurals? What hypocrites!” makes me roll my eyes. Ask literally any anti how they feel about people fapping to horror movies and I guarantee the anti will say it’s fucking sick that someone would be turned on by that content. Most antis don’t have an issue with dark content. They have an issue with people kinking on or romanticizing dark content.

When L&O starts putting out episodes where the detectives erotically rape the perps, I guarantee the antis will be howling for the show’s cancellation.

In short: Antis suck, but "I notice you're fine with murder in your entertainment!" isn't the 'gotcha' a lot of pro-shippers seem to think it is.

Nah. If they're going to bleat about how liking the bad ships turns people into actual real life abusers and rapists, they need to explain how liking violence doesn't turn them into actual real life mass murderers. Because they absolutely do not just bleat at people who kink on dark content (which would still be deeply stupid), they crawl all the way up the ass of people who write standard enemies-to-lovers ships, or two adults over the age of 25 with a five year age gap.

This. It's not about being turned on by gore. It's the double standard of "sexual stuff affects reality but violent stuff somehow doesn't". Of course they would be as appalled at someone being into guro or having the hots for fictional murderers. Because that's sexual and sex is bad in their puritanical minds. While most of them (saying most because there actually are a few that do this) don't at the same time believe consuming crime or violent media makes you a murderer irl.

But that's exactly what proshippers say is hypocritical. Anything is fine, as long as it isn't made into a kink. Kink is what makes people lose their morality and start copying fiction, that's the anti position. Antis also insist the difference is that violence isn't portrayed positively unlike kink, which is patently hilariously untrue, and it takes a lot of hypocrisy not to realize how "heroic" characters are portrayed as unambiguously good while committing violence in mainstream media.

I don't think enjoying killing fictional people in a nonsexual way is any morally better (or worse) than enjoying it in a sexual way. You're still enjoying the idea of killing fictional people and glorifying it! The idea that it's only sexual enjoyment, or kink, that makes it irredeemable is so transparently stupid on the surface that only in a deeply puritanical culture would it get any traction at all.

Assuming antis actually have a consistent ethos that isn't just a rationalization, maybe they could put it into practice by not running blogs dedicated to abuse and harassment.

I haaaattttee the treasure hunt trope where a) the treasure/money really exists, i.e. the narrative proves it does, b) the people hunting actually really need the treasure/money for some good reason, and c) they don't find the treasure, d) there's no alternative solution to the need for the treasure hunters presented, and e) we're supposed to believe the journey was the treasure all along. It really reads like "other things are more valuable than money" and you know what, fuck that. Sometimes you need money before you need friends.

Due to COVID-19 there's been a lot of fanart featuring characters with face masks and I hope this trend sticks around. I just genuinely think a lot of people look better with them on, both real and fictional, that and I've always been sensitive to people's facial expressions. Having them more 'muted' makes me a little more comfortable in social situations.

Just wish face masks would become more common in erotica too. As someone who also enjoys watching people fuck with their clothes mostly on, face masks are a bonus.

Need For Speed (2015) has such beautiful backgrounds that I sometimes tear up over it, overwhelmed by the aesthetics and ambiance. Wish I had enough money to drive around aimlessly for hours on end through the city at night in real life but I guess a video game will have to scratch that itch.
