The discovery of modern AUs where Les Amis are cops was basically the point where I decided that nothing could compel me to interact with the Les Mis fandom as it currently exists. I mean, sure, I could spend my days lambasting people for their stupidity and complete incomprehension of even the simplest of the book's ideas... or I could do literally anything else with my time.

That's at least unusual. After the Tom Hooper movie came out, you'd be forgiven for going on Tumblr/AO3 and mistaking them for a group of quirky college students living in a flat share.
