Not familiar with doll fandoms. Is that a thing?

I’m in a few different doll fandoms and I’ve never heard a doll collector say this to another collector. There’s discussion about when it’s a good age to share one’s expensive collection with one’s child and parents collecting with their children, but not “you’re a mommy and those are your babies” unless it’s Reborn dolls. I can only assume the people telling OP these things are not doll collectors, but IDK.
