Is that a problem though? I figured the OP was referring to how people *talk to them* like they're a child just because they have dolls. Which, as an adult doll collector, I get (an adult who collects dolls, not a collector of "adult dolls").

Even in the context of doll collectors, it seems like "you're going to be a great mommy someday" would be an unbelievably infantalizing thing to say to an adult - maybe that's where AYRT is coming from?

It wouldn't be so annoying is (historically) he wasn't so adamant about not passing it off to another fantasy writer with his notes to finish. I guess that is why we have fanfiction.

I mean, all of Sarah Dessen’s characters are primarily white and her most recent book was in 2019, so it’s not like this author is the only one who doesn’t have a diverse cast in her books. I don’t know this author and I’m not familiar with her work, so this is an assumption, but maybe it never crossed her mind to have a diverse cast for any number of reasons. She may be doing it for woke points or good publicity or maybe she genuinely feels that she should have put POC in her book now that she has a fresher perspective on the importance of diversity in literature.

They're mad that the author created a piece of art, realized it wasn't perfect, and agreed to let someone else improve it, and this is bad because the author should've made a perfect piece of art without help in the first place?

... but you wouldn't mind if someone else made them for you! As always, including the fandom and full character names is a big help, and I'll try my best to use an appropriate image choice. Er, just to clarify - it's my intention to make all the secrets left in this thread, so even if they're not marked claimed, they will be made.
