I think you might want to just send this to AO3, actually. Me, personally, I have no clue (I don't *think* changing your name will erase your bookmarks, etc.), but better to ask them. They get back to people really quickly and are very patient and explain things really well.

Thanks for the sympathy and advice! I read A03 FAQ, changed my username and didn't seem to lose any bookmarks, so all good here for now.
