Someone not having a complete meltdown over a bad date doing the 'I would normally stop, but I've had second thoughts because this is awkward' dance doesn't require suspension of disbelief, and that's assuming she actually saw him. Most people who have awkward dates do not, in fact, come to the conclusion that their date is an abusive monster or a serial killer or anything that requires concern.

Yeah, quite. I don't think she did see him, but... I'd have thought the most natural response from her would either be being pissed off with him because he walked out on her, or, alternatively, feeling awkward and a bit embarrassed because she brought up a heavy subject and for some reason it upset him. Like, I'd might be wondering if he had PTSD or something, but I wouldn't think it was a Sign he was a monster.

And... while I agree the setting for the date was a bit odd, that was her choice, not Bucky's!
