Netflix has a ton of great shows (and mini-series if those count as shows).

(Anonymous) 2021-05-04 10:27 pm (UTC)(link)
What are they? And how many of them are co-productions, or licensing/funding deals with existing platforms?

Stranger Things and Bojack Horseman come to mind. Castlevania and The Witcher seem to be well-liked too.

I don't know about the rest, but The Witcher has the typical Netflix show issues - mostly, the pacing is off, the show makes things too complicated at the very beginning, it seems to have a big budget but is not entirely great about spending it, etc - most of it could have been twicked in the normal course of production if Netfix was in the habit of actually executive producing anything and giving any notes (producers/tv channels get bad press, but a lot of what they did /was/ useful for keeping shows in shape), but also could have eneded up even worse if the producers/notes were shit, so we'll nver know.

Sense8 is also an incredible watch.

Strongly agree! What are some of your faves?

Some of my personal faves are:

Bojack Horseman (all seasons)
Jessica Jones (all seasons)
The Queen’s Gambit
Stranger Things (S1)
GLOW (all seasons)
Mind Hunter (both seasons)
Sex Education (both seasons)
The OA (both seasons)
Dark (Only watched S1 so far, but from what I’ve heard later seasons hold up)
Orange Is The New Black (first couple seasons)
Umbrella Academy (both seasons)
Sense8 (maybe. barely makes the list due to serious pacing issue and too many long-ass orgie scenes, but that's just me.)

I don't disagree, but I would just noted that's not a lot of great shows, considering the sheer overwhelming volume of their content production.

Also like half of them were made in 2014-2016

Not to be all "what have you done for me lately" but what has Netflix done for me lately

I mean...twelve good-to-great shows in under a decade is pretty freaking good. As compared to the zero shows that ABC, CBS, NBC, and FOX have on my good-to-great list for that same time period.
