I've written for this fandom and I've read extensively in it and I have to say I completely agree, OP. Imo there's only one fic that really begins to do justice to Wodehouse's tone and lighthandedness and that's Jeeves and the Tennis Coach by Out_there. If I'm remembering it correctly, it was the only fic I ever found that approached feeling like a Wodehouse story. I include my own in that. I tried my best but there are places where the story fails to trip along in the same easy way as Plum's writing.

No shade to any of the excellent fic writers out there in the fandom. Wodehouse is just a very very unique style and virtually impossible to mimic. Even published authors make a complete hash when they attempt it.
