Lol at all of the butthurt Hetalia fans bawwing about your comment. Shit, someone thinks your fandom is shallow?! OMG I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS HOW DARE YOU.

I don't think they ever said it was particularly deep (well, some have, but some =/= all. "Hetalia fans" is not a monolithic entity of unified opinion). They're more upset that childings is setting rules as to who can be in his/her sandbox. Some of the people taking offense aren't even Hetalia fans. It's illogical to tell someone to stop trying to educate themselves just because you don't approve of what spurred them to do it. Even if they only learn a little about a specific area, they're that much more educated for it. I really have a hard time seeing this as a bad thing.

It's like telling someone who has to fulfill a multicultural requirement at college in order to graduate (as in, they wouldn't normally take this class) that they shouldn't take whatever class they pick because "their reasoning is shallow." No matter what their reasoning is, they'll come out with that much more knowledge and probably be at least a little bit of a better person for it.
