Oh, I call lots of people darling. Particularly if I'm quoting Blackadder.

And grammar and punctuation matter tremendously - think of legal documents, formal publications, important orders and reports (for example, medical and military, where punctuation can get people killed). On a basic, day-to-day level among friends, I'll grant you, it's not a matter of grave importance. But as soon as it comes to anything serious, it is. And if things slide in the day-to-day then it only widens the gap between the basic and the desperately important, and makes it even more difficult for people to understand.

Sorry, it bothers the fuck out of me too. Doesn't take any longer to type the correct version, and if you understand contractions at a basic level, it should be natural.

Actually, your first comma is grammatically incorrect, anon. You need one after "me" in order for that interpretation to make sense.
