Gotta agree about FF9. And I mean, it wasn't the worst in the series, just I played the series and loved it since the first game came out so when the site I worked for got the early info in and we were writing up previews I was all "oh cool they're going for nostalgia for the old-school fans!" And it just... came off more like they threw a bunch of references to past games into a kind of mediocre plotline. There are some clever bits in it, and I loved some of the characters and certain mini-games, but neither the story or the gameplay actually filled it out to make it "BEST EVAR" like a lot of my friends seem to think.

I don't dare tell them it's the only game in the series I've only played once. So thanks for the opportunity to vent. ;)
