Lil Nas X is such a conundrum for me. I like what he's doing, I like that he's grabbed the mantle of 'controversial pop star' that like Elvis and Lady Gaga and Marlyn Manson had, I like the tone of his voice when he sings, but all of his songs sound like oatmeal to me. People talk about specific lines he sings and I just can't pick them out. I need closed captioning on his music videos or something. Luckily I can recognize that I'm not the target demographic for something that is quality for what it is (like academic writing) so I hope he keeps doing what he's doing.
