Could they be trolling you? Sometimes when you see someone out there being contrarian, it arouses a certain gadfly-ish urge to make it out like their opinion is The Worst, especially if the person in question is all, "UNPOPULAR OPINION BUT..." in a public forum about some relatively trivial matter.
