Secrets you're too lazy to make...

...but do not mind if one of the excellent secret makers here did it for you!

I come up with some damn good fic ideas...when I'm driving, or at work and supposed to be concentrating on work stuff, or otherwise preoccupied where I can't stop and write anything down. I always tell myself that I will remember the ideas, because they are good ideas...but I always forget and by the time I think of it again, the moment's gone.

It used to be that I was all about OTPs. I'd maybe have smaller other ships, but I'd always have one main pairing for a character and usually one per fandom. Now I seem to have lost my decision-making ability. I often ship two or more things with the same character at the same time equally strongly and can't choose. Take Anne of Green Gables, because I'm rereading and it is fresh on my mind. I equally ship Anne/Diana and Anne/Gilbert. Both are great. How could I possibly choose?

I wish we both had more super girly action characters like Buffy who embrace being girly and at the same time more masculine female action characters who are totally okay with being who they are and whose creators don't feel the need to add those feminine traits to prove they are actually girls.

B!S: heck, while we're at it, how about some girly action men?

I'm still sad that we're never going to get a sequel to the Warcraft movie. I thought it was really good. Saw it 5 times in the theater. And there are so many other great stories in that universe that would make great movies.

(Freddy Kruger Movies)

I've always thought the trope of "Dreaming that you wake up" is stupid and fake and a dumb horror movie trope.

Last night I had a nightmare and then I woke up in my childhood bed. It was really accurate too, the only thing off was my digital clock was too dim. When I woke up for real I was disturbed and disorientated. I still don't like it as a narrative fake out, but yikes it's real.

I've had this happen before and 100% it's horrifying. I get sleep paralysis and it's only happened during bouts of that, but one night I got stuck in this loop where I would 'wake up' but couldn't take my headphones off, which would make me realise I wasn't actually awake. D:

I get unreasonably annoyed when I see some cute fanart and scroll down to see who made it, only to read "Credit to the artist". Who's the artist?! Why didn't you tag them?! Gah, it just pisses me off.

I like to use the "Bookmarks" feature on AO3 when looking into the works of authors I enjoy to check out what other fic I might be missing out on. It almost feels like a rec list on LJ.

B!S: I also click on the profiles of people who liked the fic I just enjoyed to see if they have any worthwhile bookmarks

S!B: I don't use the bookmark feature myself because I'm afraid someone will find me and all the filthy self indulgent crap I like to read. I feel like it's unfair, because maybe someone out there has my tastes too and they're missing out on fic -- I get so excited when I see a bunch of bookmarks and they're ALL right up my alley.

You can make your bookmarks private, so you can keep track of the fics you love and not worry about being seen.

Yo - you can make your bookmarks Private, so no-one else can see them. When someone clicks the Make Bookmark option, they get a couple of ticky-boxes to make it Private or a Rec, and space to put their own notes and tags.

Hope that helps.

I always find it so boggling when people say they sort by kudos to find 'the best fic' when going into a new fandom, because in my experience all that yields is the most OOC/id-fic tripe, not what's actually genuinely good from a fanbase.

It's not that strange - 'the best fic' is almost always code for 'the fic I like best', and the people who sort by kudos to find it have tastes that are mainstream for the fandom.

Fandom on reddit is active but rude. There's no basic courtesy from earlier ages.

For example: op makes a post looking for art of a minor pairing AxD. Only comment is a chain disparaging the ship, the shipper, and saying it must be racism why they don't ship AxC.

Make your own hate post, jesus guys.

Scandals with reality TV stars and Youtube stars have made me suspicious of any "candid" or "goodwill" or "wholesome" video on the internet. IMO, everything just screams "Look at me, look at what an awesome person I am." And when they're filming someone else, I wonder if the person is prepared for the potential trouble that all the sudden attention will give them should the video go viral.

(I acknowledge this is not a kind way to view humanity, and is probably a little unhealthy.)
