I did an online chocolate tasting a few weeks ago that sucked too, nonny! Was it vegan chocolate? Mine was vegan chocolate, also they under-roast their beans, and the result is that even the very dark chocolate tastes like gritty, overly sweet earth.

The company says they use only two ingredients, cane sugar and cocoa, so I suppose it's vegan, but they didn't hype it up that way. It was actually quite smooth and not gritty at all, it was just meh.
