In short, they're more reachable. But, well, I don't think that should be an argument in favor of "RPF series" - being more reachable means you can say "oh I read that fic, fuck you!" easily, unlike the royals.

Yes, and people in this thread have made good points that a prestigious ‘RPF’ series can still be on dodgy ground. Personally I prefer things about people who are no longer here and probably don’t have any relatives who remember them still around but even those can make people believe the wrong thing about events.

Oh and another thing occurred to me about the band fandom I mentioned. One girl was so obsessed with the frontman she hacked all his accounts and was using personal info for RPGing him, which obviously pissed off a lot of people when it came out (as did the people who were happy to share in the gossip she gleaned but suddenly played all innocent...) and the frontman did tell her to fuck off (in many ways) but honestly people like her are fortunately a rare outlier.

AYRT - Well, they are I bet. Even because if it's some guy who makes money, I bet the can sue them pretty harshly. And, obviously, deserved.
