layton? the... the puzzle game with the professor in a funny hat? is there really something in those games that could inspire that much anger?

I haven’t played the most recent 2-3 games but can easily see why someone would call the franchise sexist. I don’t remember anything that would make me think racist but that doesn’t mean it isn’t there. I’m more curious about the rant; did the artist add it long after the fact? Like they did this amazing art and posted it but then much later the way felt about the source material changed and they went all soapbox-y instead of just deleting it.

Not really sure about the artist's timing. The art had been there for at least a few years by the time I found it, so I imagine the rant was added around that time. But I will say the art depicted a character from the prequel trilogy.

I suppose it's possible something is there that would make someone go "hey, this is a little weird, did they mean something by this?" But the degree of anger expressed by the artist? I... I am honestly baffled.

I'm just baffled whenever I see something like this because personally, if I had so many strong issues with a fandom, no matter how much I like other aspects of it, I would never bother creating fanworks for it.
