But Eurovision is obviously not just about politics. It is one of the factors in how people vote, sure. But right now the stuff that's happening in Israel is much bigger news than Brexit that is pretty much over and done with, and Israel still gets votes. And Switzerland and Norway were never in the EU in the first place, and they still get votes. Russia is basically an evil empire and people vote for it. So obviously regardless of what happens in politics, voting does not solely depend on that. But of course it is easier to just blame the result on politics. If the UK had to go through the semi-finals, they wouldn't even have qualified with this song, that is just a generic middle of the road pop, but sure, politics.

It's not that simple. Neighbors will vote for each other every year. Most people in Europe side with Israel. It's a mix.

I agree though, it was fairly forgettable as a song. But then so were all the dance tracks imo.
