This is the first year I actually watched the final instead of just seeing clips after the fact.

And I was kind of shocked that the dancing often wasn’t very good. Worse than the standard crop of music videos or contestants in televised talent contests. Is it always like that? And does anyone know why? It feels like they should be able to get backup dancers that are as good as other performances.

The dancing was definitely substandard this year, but there were a lot of restrictions involved so I'm guessing that they couldn't get the best in a lot of cases.
