(Image of Vincent Kartheiser as Pete Campbell in 'Mad Men'.)

I really enjoyed Pete's story, liked a lot of his character's stuff*, cheered his final realization that brought him back to Trudy and Tammy.

Yup, even though he was a rapey fuck.

*Like how he was so incensed and disgusted over the water-bomb thing w/Black protesters and how a co-worker reacted to MLK's assassination, and how he didn't 'out' a gay character who hit on him, and how sad Beth's hospitalization made him, and how over the moon he was when Trudy got pregnant....

I think Pete was a such a realized nuance perspective of actual assholes people you meet in the world, much more than other characters.

Seconding meadowphoenix on this one.

Also, I'm honestly just happy you acknowledge he was a rapey fuck. Almost every single person I've spoken to about Mad Men IRL completely failed to recognize that he was a rapey fuck and I just find that really disheartening. Like...did they forget? Did they never watch the show in the early days? Or do they just not realize that was he did was rape by coercion? (Do they not think rape by coercion IS rape?)

Anyway, yeah, I genuinely do think Pete was a very well-written character with a lot of complexity, and it doesn't bother me that people connect with his character or care about his character on whatever level. I'm just happy when the rapey part doesn't go completely unacknowledged.
