I've yet to see any internet vigilante justice that was proportional or justified.

to be onest, There's not suitable enough justice IRL, so people go to the internet. weird dichotomy where the most that can be done is shaming people for a not so woke moment and not permanently ending a rapist's career.

I totally agree that there's rarely sufficient justice for things like affecting rapist's careers. The problem is, internet justice is rarely aimed just at big things like that. Also, there is no way to actually prove anything.

I think the Winterfox stuff was proportional and justified. She was really vile to people online (especially other women of colour, clearing out the opposition) and that was all linked back to her shiny new author pseudonym. And since her family are billionaires, she's not suffering real world harm from internet behaviour.

Yeah, this is true. But people like WF and Thanfiction are the exception, not the rule. Most people who get targeted haven't engaged in that level of fuckery.
