And yours was full of homosexism.

[identity profile] orbitaldiamonds.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 01:07 am (UTC)(link)
Well then maybe there should be more women in punditry fandom!

Jon fics don't often include Tracey. Stephen fics don't often iclude Evie. Keith fics almost never include Katy. Doesn't it make sense that Rachel fics wouldn't include Susan? That's the way RPF works most of the time.

I'd love, love, LOVE to see more femmeslash involving Rachel, but in the meantime, Keith/Rachel is a great pairing! (And, yeah, it took me awhile to warm to.) Keith and Rachel at least have a canon rapport, as opposed to randomly shipping her with Erica Hill or Mika Brzezinski (though I'd trade a batch of icons for the latter).

To play with orientations with straight characters but not with gay characters is HOMOSEXIST.

Personally, as a bisexual, I don't understand the monosexist hangups of gays and straights when it comes to gender.

Yeah, I ship way more on the basis of what's actually onscreen... It's why I don't like Keith/Anderson as much as everyone else does.

Ah, yes, THIS.

Re: And yours was full of homosexism.

[identity profile] orbitaldiamonds.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 01:42 am (UTC)(link)
Well, I'm still a K/A shipper. As long as it's all AU's and fiction, why not?

Re: And yours was full of homosexism.

[identity profile] latara.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 01:44 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I mean, I don't have an issue with it at all, I mean, a lot of the fic I'm writing right now is all shipping various pundits with fictional characters, so I can't say much, it's just why I prefer other ships. But I read and have written K/A, because it's fun.

I'll read whatever's written really well. I don't read a lot of TDS/TCR slash (I have a hard time suspending my disbelief for Jon/Stephen, but that's a personal POV, not a fandom one), but some of it I do, and I LOVE IT.

Re: And yours was full of homosexism.

[identity profile] latara.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 02:21 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, in this fandom, that's what I end up doing because there's a ton of quality stuff. Mostly I stick to the TDS/TCR/MSNBC people because I don't watch CNN, but hey, everyone's good. I'll read all kinds of things.

[identity profile] orbitaldiamonds.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 02:24 am (UTC)(link)
Indeedy. I read what I like, and ignore what I don't, and I only listen with one ear to all the fandom-talking-about-fandom because most of it is wank like the heterosexism chick. (And then there's the good stuff from [livejournal.com profile] bessemerprocess and [livejournal.com profile] sarken, which is why I listen at all.)

[identity profile] latara.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 02:27 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, I mean, I like meta done well but that's rarer than I'd like to admit. I was all over bessemerprocess's post about this topic but only because I knew everyone understood where everyone else was coming from and no one was going to throw around slurs because of shipping preferences.

Word.

If you really think homosexism exists, please DIAF

(Anonymous) 2009-02-07 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
You probably also think "reverse racism" exists. You're a damn fool.

[identity profile] orbitaldiamonds.livejournal.com 2009-02-07 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
Racism is racism. There's no "reverse."

And using the term "homosexism" was snark at the comment I was replying to.

Intolerance is intolerable no matter who's doing it.

Are you an idiot? It's racism if there's a white person oppressing black one, it's still racism if there's a black person oppressing white one. In both cases judgments are made based solely on someone's ethnic background and not their actual person. What someones ancestors may have been guilty of is hardly a justification to do the same thing again from different viewpoint.

There is nothing sexist about not being bisexual. You need to get over the fact that not everyone is bisexual. It's okay.

I know there's nothing sexist about not being bisexual. The fact that most people aren't isn't offensive to me, it's just confusing.

Please to be getting down off your high horse.
