So, this might be unique to me but

I don't have what I define as nightmares anymore. Like, if I had this same dream as a kid I would wake up scared, terrified, but as an adult, I just wake up and am like "well that was obviously a dream since no one skinned my mom and used that for weird shapeshifty blood magic." The content hasn't changed at all, but it's just not registered as scary

so while I kinda relate to the "really kinda weird surreal dream" I don't relate to adults being like "it felt so real"

Do you have “realistic” nightmares at all? For me, those are usually someone else or myself doing or having done something that’s an exaggeration of a negative trait or bad habit, but still plausible - those do still scare me.

Not really. The closest were the dreams within dreams as a kid where I'd wake up, go to the bathroom, and then Jason is outside the bathroom door

This is super interesting, I just know I have these nightmares too but I can't place my finger on the exact scenarios right now.
