I thought Martin Freeman was a great Bilbo (shrug)

Like every role, he was just playing himself.

This is my issue with Freeman, too. Don't get me wrong, sometimes it really works. But it's hard to forget you're watching Martin Freeman, and I want to be more immersed in the movie than that.

Exactly.

(Anonymous) 2021-06-03 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't get that from his Bilbo. It was actually the one role of his where I could forget the actor and just see the character.

(Anonymous) 2021-06-03 03:57 am (UTC)(link)
It's honestly the only role I've liked him in.

(Anonymous) 2021-06-02 11:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Totally agreed on the first part, disagree on the second.

(Anonymous) 2021-06-03 01:27 am (UTC)(link)
Agree except also for Aiden Turner unless they dwarf him up like everyone else.

Aidan Turner is the reason why I almost broke my own rule and wold have started to read LotR fanfiction (LotR is a "pillar" for me, and I didn't want to violate its "sanctity"/"purity" by indulging in filth). So i just got Netflix instead and watched him in other programs lol. He's so beautiful.
