I've never read this, but I'm guessing it was published a while ago. Maybe it was progressive during its time because there was nothing quite like it back then and now that there's more content out there, it just doesn't land the same way anymore.

I have read it, and you've basically hit the nail on the head. It hasn't aged super gracefully, like most things haven't. But it was a breath of fresh air at the time it came out.
