I think I understand what you mean, in that Dorothy gets so high on being part of the elite group that she kinda ignores how snobby and stuck-up the author is to her friends? Yeah, I would agree white supremacy encourages that writ large in the more well-meaning folks.

I was referring more to the author friend being a member of clubs that banned Jewish folks. But I could see Dorothy being blind to what was going on until that incident happened.
