What do you even get with a McDonalds meal nowadays? I know happy meals banned anything made with unrecyclable plastics - but since the only thing I can eat there are the fries I don't really go to McDonalds and can't really investigate.

I am skeptical of this secret, because most vegetarians I know can only handle a bite or two of meat if they "cheat." A whole meal, especially as heavy as McDonald's, would make them sick.

I was vegetarian from childhood until early thirties and now eat one chicken meal a week. Jumped straight in and was fine.

True, but that's mostly red meat that gives the problems. I was a vegetarian for about 8 years and added in chicken and fish no problems. Red meat took a bit longer. Apparently it's harder for vegans though.

As a 27+ year vegetarian who broke ranks only once in my teens to have a spoonful of homemade bouillabaisse at my uncle's insistence, I don't think this is true, food is food. If I ate a bunch of mcnuggets (ew) and then a bunch of fried stuff I might get sick because it was too much food, not because there was meat in it.

Meat doesn't actually make you sick in itself if you haven't eaten it in a long time, that's mainly a mental thing. And 'a whole meal, especially as heavy as" lol you act as if a vegetarian diet is perfectly healthy and balanced and fat free when there is so, so much fried food that actually is vegetarian. Just because you're vegetarian doesn't mean you lead some ascetic, fat free life.

I'm the OP. I guess I can't prove it to you but I did eat it and it was fine. It's pretty processed so honestly, it's not a ton of meat and, besides the taste, it was very similar to the chick*n tenders I get sometimes.

The only time I've had difficulty with a food, it was going from being a longterm vegan to eating eggs--gave me a terribly upset stomach (though eating the eggy meal was perfectly enjoyable before it really hit my digestive system). Vegan -> lacto-vegetarian and lacto-ovo-vegetarian -> omnivore were both no problem.

(And conversely, lacto-ovo-vegetarian -> vegan and omnivore -> vegan gave me no trouble either.)

Monstrous Bebe was telling me about ads for the 'BTS' meals at McDs. She was baffled. I think it's fun if you're a K-Pop fan, but McD's is just so gross....

I don't really care for BTS much, but all the talk around it has made me crave McNuggets. I don't even like McDonald's...

I got the BTS meal because I'm a huge sucker for items that aren't normally available. I'd seen pictures of how the meal looked like in other countries and expected it to look like a BTS-themed happy meal, but there wasn't any special packaging or anything and that was a bit of a letdown. The sauces were decent though.

this only means something if you're a vegetarian because of ethics surrounding the treatment of animals. if you are, yeah I think this is a little pathetic.
