OP be honest, are these otome games? Because that's like walking into a musical and complaining about the singing.

Let OP have their complaint. So far in my mind, otome games' sole defining characteristic is that they're marketed towards women and usually romantic, NOT that it's going to be a strangely misogynistic experience. If all otome games are marketed as a casual vanilla romance story but are instead the equivalent of a harlequinn romance novel, then understand that there's going to be some disappointment.
