i may be in the minority, but i don't think it's a bad/stupid thing to have a crush on a celebrity? that's part and parcel of celebrity culture and how they're marketed, and it doesn't make you a bad person or a stupid person to get a crush on celelbrity man bo burnham or think he's hot. in all honesty, i don't think parasocial relationships are inherently bad--it's when they get mixed with entitlement over the person and bad boundaries is when it gets not great. the very fact that you're so concerned about it says (to me at least) that you wouldn't be weird or overly familiar with it, so just enjoy it for what it is.

(and truly, i did not expect him to be...hot? in this special? i understand that is not the point of the special and i have many feelings about it that are separate from that point. but like....the long hair and beard works for him!)

Seriously. This is part of the whole point of celebrities. Like you said, it crosses a line when you start putting yourself in that person's space and trying to demand their attention somehow. But just having fantasies about a famous person or a crush on them? Every celebrity knows (hopes) there are people doing that. It comes with the territory. Magazines have their Sexiest lists and most are thrilled to be on it.
