Apparently, the lid got knocked off the trash can sometime yesterday, probably during the crazy thunderstorm that came out of nowhere and dumped half a foot of rain on us. And then a squirrel got in there and drowned. So I got to deal with that today, which has me feeling guilty and queasy.

What a strange reply. Do you always take a poll on whether or not everyone in the room finds an animal worthy of being cared about before you divulge your trauma in witnessing its death? Because... you don't actually have to do that, you know.
