How tragic are we talking? TBH, I don't really know how to separate tragedy from "sad ending" and I'm generally not here for sad endings (though if I'm reading literary fiction then I'm cool with whatever).

Also, when it comes to fanfic I'm wary of fics described as having complicated or ambiguous endings, because what one person thinks of as "happy but complicated" might be what another person thinks of as sad. For instance, if my OTP is not together at the end, and it doesn't seem like they'll ever be together, then for me, that's a sad ending. "But one of them named his child after the other and they both grew as people because of each other and they remember each other fondly!" No, sorry, they're my OTP for a reason, I want them together.

OTP are together at the end but get to live complicatedly ever after. Happy with each other but their relationship complicates their lives immensely.

Oh, that sounds right up my alley, actually! I'm one of those shippers who loves angst and struggle, as long as my OTP are together and love each other. Not gonna lie, if things get too simple and domestic for my ships, I actually get bored, so "our being together complicates our lives immensely but we're doing it anyway" sounds like sweet, sweet deliciousness to me, personally. :D
