While part of the charm in a lot of stories is seeing dysfunctional characters, I personally hate the trope of poor communication skills because, most of the times, it makes the story feel forced as hell. When it is some basic, minuscule fact, that I hate, especially since it is something that would inevitable be revealed and come into conversation anyway.

It's not my preferred style but I wouldn't call it ugly. The food though... while I don't think it looks disgusting, I think there is much more delicious looking food in other anime. Ghibli food just all looks... idk, to round and gloopy to me (with a lot of it having this shiny effect that just doesn't fit some of the food it's on).

I like playlists and music recs if it's something unusual that really fits the characters and setting or something that shows the writer really knows and cares about music and took time to choose something that really enhances the story.

If it's the same generic pop songs that are hits right now that everybody is quoting whether it fits or not, then nah.

I can't comment on the Ghibli style overall, as I haven't watched any Ghibli films, and even if I had, I've watched so little anime that I still couldn't really judge it against other anime very well.

But I agree with you about the food. IDK if it looks disgusting per se, but I definitely find it off-putting. It all looks really...idk, gelid? And also kind of like fake plastic food (aaand my brain is now trying to create a Weird Al style parody set to the tune of Fake Plastic Trees).
