Hotdog Toppings?

(Anonymous) 2021-06-17 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
I just recently realized I like mustard on mine (in addition to ketchup). What do you eat?

A little bit of mustard, a tiny dab of ketchup, lots of fried onions.

I will take cheese if it's there, but I don't really miss it if it's not there.

I actually don't know what my feelings are about mayo on hot dogs. I'll have to try them with mayo some time this summer and see.

Absolutely no pickle, relish, or sauerkraut. Just nothing remotely pickled. If anything pickled is on my food, ALL I will be able to taste is pickled-taste.

Mustard, sweet onions, sauerkraut, and relish. So the works but no ketchup.

Mustard and onion that's it

Ketchup only. (I know, I know, not the "right" way to eat a hotdog.)

I know people will argue about anything, but for some reason the idea that people would claim there's a wrong way to eat a hotdog actually bothers me. It's a hotdog. You could eat it with a scoop of tiger ice cream and I'd be like, awesome friend, live your bliss.

It's the right way if you're four and still need your hotdogs cut up in pieces.

Ketchup and relish (or sauerkraut). Onions are nice, though I can't eat them anymore. I like mustard, but I can take or leave it.

The biggest thing with me is the hotdog itself, though. I hate all beef hotdogs. It has to be pork or mixed meat.

Yes, in the US all beef hot dogs are an option. And in my experience that kind of hot dog is what movie theaters offer, so I never get a theater hot dog. Most stores I've been in have both kinds.

I’ve only ever had it made for me, but I like Chicago-style (which the Internet tells me is tomatoes, onions, relish, kosher pickle, sport peppers, mustard, and celery salt on poppyseed bun). Also chili-cheese-onion. Or if I’m feeling nostalgic, the more basic “works”: ketchup, mustard, onions, relish.

I remember liking the NY-style onions in tomato sauce but don’t actually remember what that tastes like now.

Mustard and relish, but every once in a while I like a Chicago style hot dog.

Notdogs (vegetarian fake meat ones) with mustard if I'm being super lazy, with mustard and sautéed red bell pepper and onion if I'm slightly less lazy, and with mustard and a ridiculous sort of peperonata-relish-ish stuff if I either have lots of time or made enough to have a jar in the fridge--the red bell peppers and red onions, fried in butter with mushroom concentrate, fresh thyme, maybe some molasses or liquid smoke, chipotle powder, tamari, white wine, and balsamic vinegar. It's like red pepper umami concentrate and it's awesome.

Common: American cheese, ketchup, sliced dill pickle.
Rare: Fresh mozzarella, sweet relish.
Ultra rare: Grilled onions, BBQ sauce.
