This is Word of Honour isn't it? I didn't click with that show for pretty much the same vibe as you're describing. Not sure what you mean by the hammer and sickle tattoo though- what does he have to do with communism?

I think they meant "so many red flags you might as well be in a communist country" because communism and the colour red are very much linked.
