Unpopular opinion: Data is kind of creepy too. (He's actually my favorite TNG character and I suppose its a testament to Brent Spiner's acting abilities that he was able to do whatever weird uncanny valley thing he did with that character, but yeah, I've always found Data a little creepy.)

Theory: The uncanny valley thing is just Brent Spiner's actual personality, and Data being an android just provides a canon explanation for it.
