Re: What are some fandom things you just don't get?

The absolute need to be the popular one in fandom spaces.

I go into a panic whenever I see more than 99 notes on anything I've posted within a day with the first thoughts being "Oh no what's happened?" before finding out its people just liking my work lol. It's not that I mind if a post of mine does get popular, I just like making things for fandom and seeing people get happy about it or talk about the fandom source for fan theories or something. I also like keeping my fandom spaces seperate from other sites I might post on (the people I fear the most are the ones who do things like link their real-life-name-attacted twitter account to their AO3 works like an insane person).

Oh yeah, I don't get this either. usually because the "popular" person starts attacking anyone that does anything remotely similar to what they're doing. So, then it starts drama for no reason turning the less popular person into villain of the day if they can.

this happened to me very recently. And it was funny to me b/c I just block and move on. Like, I literally do not care about the fandom as much as the "popular" person does. Then they had the gall to complain to a mutual person who tried to play peacemaker "I wasn't trying to start trouble."

err... then they could post on their own platform, and not hijack my post with an attack. Yeesh. I'm not about to feed their need for attention and asspats and tell them they're right, when, they aren't. Not for internet popularity cred that can be gone next week.
