Tiktok and fandom. If there's anyone out here (any lurkers, youth lol) participating in fandom via tiktok, can you please explain it?

Like I'm seeing shoutouts and links to tiktoks and things like that on some A/N and I'm terribly confused? Are people now associating their RL face with their fanfiction writing? What is going on? How are you even...what are you doing? I'm so confused. I don't do tmfandom twitter either because again, wtf.
