I've never gotten any hate, but I write for a kinky fandom lol. I HAVE gotten a lot of comments that's basically "I know this is a dead dove fic but it would be so much better if it wasn't and I'm going to keep complaining that this isn't going to have a happy ending/the characters aren't escaping/ blah blah blah". It can get really annoying and disheartening, because it feels really sucky but no one ever talks about it in fandom etiquette.

That's only happened with my plotty fics though. Smutty oneshots almost exclusively get "this is hot" type of stuff.
