I'm not even bothered much by spelling in the prose or whatever as long as say, Dean on Supernatural isn't calling the trunk of his car the boot and things like that, because HE would say trunk.

Balthazar would call it the boot, being a British angel, lol. Or the British Men of Letters would, obviously.

Yeah, I tend to use what characters themselves would say, as a guide for certain terms. I'm sure I still mess up anyway, but that percentage is probably a lot lower than if I were just going with assumptions, or with what I'd personally say.

DA - spelling doesn’t really ever bother me. It’s a characterization issue, not a writing one. Make sure the character speaks how they really would, no matter how you spell it. I can’t “hear” the u in colour, for example.
